Ten Elyse
Accessibility Statement
Last updated October 28, 2026
The short version: I want this site to work for everyone, however you browse it. It’s built with plain, semantic HTML, every image carries a text description, and the whole site can be used by keyboard alone. If something gets in your way, tell me and I’ll fix it.
My commitment
Accessibility isn’t a feature I bolted on at the end — it’s part of building something well. I want tenelyse.com to be usable whether you’re browsing with a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, zooming the text, or simply reading on a small phone in bright sunlight.
What’s in place
- Every image has a text description. All 56 images across the site carry meaningful alternative text, and decorative images are correctly hidden from screen readers so they don’t add noise.
- Full keyboard access. Every link, button, menu and interactive panel can be reached and operated without a mouse, and the focus outline is always visible so you can see where you are.
- A skip link. Press Tab when a page loads and you can jump straight past the navigation to the main content.
- Semantic structure. Real headings, lists, landmarks and labelled form fields, so screen readers can announce the page properly and let you navigate by heading.
- Reduced motion respected. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and transitions are switched off.
- Readable contrast. Body text and interface colours were checked against the WCAG AA contrast standard.
- Resizable text and responsive layout. The site reflows cleanly down to small phone widths and when text is enlarged, with no horizontal scrolling.
Standard I’m aiming for
I’m working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA. I believe the site largely meets it, but I haven’t had a formal third-party audit, so I describe this as partial conformance rather than claiming more than I can prove.
Known limitations
Being honest about what isn’t perfect yet:
- Some decorative background artwork carries colour contrast chosen for visual warmth rather than maximum contrast. All text that conveys information meets the AA standard.
- The roadmap preview opens a scrollable image panel. It’s keyboard accessible and labelled, but the roadmap pages themselves are images, so their inner text can’t be read by a screen reader. If you’d like that content in an accessible format, email me and I’ll send it to you directly.
- The site hasn’t yet been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser.
Tell me about a barrier
If any part of this site is hard to use, I genuinely want to know — it’s the fastest way for me to fix it. Email HiTen@TenElyse.com, tell me what happened and what you were trying to do, and I’ll reply personally and work with you to get you the information you needed.
Changes to this statement
As the site changes I’ll keep this page current and update the date at the top.
